In a candid interview aired on Sanyuka TV, Swengere exuded optimism and unwavering confidence in his ability to clinch the NUP endorsement, asserting that he possesses everything it takes to earn the party’s trust and backing.
Swengere pointed out that, unlike the 2021 elections, this time around, the process is more grounded in community support.
He explained that NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi, a.k.a Bobi Wine, has emphasized that the “ground”—meaning the people—will contribute 60% of the decision, while the NUP Electoral Commission accounts for the remaining 40%.
“This time round, the ground has 60% and the NUP EC has 40%,” Swengere said. “The 60% matters most, and the NUP President Bobi Wine has often said it. He has also often said that the ticket is not at the party offices, No. Not even any leader, but the ticket is with the people.”.
